Then it was off to Grouse Mountain. Having a stroller now makes us appreciate how some businesses are accessible and some are not so much. If you need accessibility at Grouse, make sure you park in Lot A. If you park in Lot B, you basically have to walk to the edge of the property, get up to Lot A, then back to the Skyride. A little ridiculous...Grouse was also ground zero for daycamps today. Lots of kids running around enjoying the sun makes for packed Skyride trams. Quinn did not seem to mind the tram shaking or the altitude changes, which was nice to see.
Up on the mountain, we were above a sea of clouds so we couldn't see much of Vancouver, but there was lots to see up there to distract us from the lack of view. Mandy & Quinn watched the lumberjack show while I took the chairlift up to where the wind turbine sits. It's a pretty impressive structure, and more impressive that they trucked most of the building up via a winding logging road. Spending $25 to go up to the viewing platform didn't seem like good value, considering the sea of cloud, so I just took pics from below.A couple of the zipline tracks run from near the wind turbine across the north canyon. Looks like damn good fun. Also damn good was the beer and onion rings, sitting on the patio, enjoying the sun & fresh air.
Also up on Grouse is a bear habitat, housing two bears. They were asleep in their den when we first arrived, but were up swimming in their pond later in the day. Quinn was uninterested. She was dozing in her stroller at this point, so we figured it was a good time to head back down. At the bottom, we made a quick stop at the Cleveland Dam since Mandy had never been there. Nice place, but it was time to head home before traffic got messy.
